Bailey Fry-Schnormeier is a multifaceted artist and educator based in Creston, Iowa. For over 17 years, she has served as the lead art teacher at Creston Community High School, where she has been instrumental in nurturing young artists and integrating art into the community.

Bailey’s artistic endeavors extend beyond the classroom. She is deeply involved in local community art projects, most notably the Mural Mashup program. This initiative connected students with professional artists to create public murals throughout Creston. In 2021, the program received national recognition by winning the Abbey Mural Prize from the National Academy of Design, accompanied by a $10,000 grant. This accolade highlighted the program’s impact on community revitalization and youth engagement.

Bailey’s commitment to community art is further exemplified by her collaboration with her husband, Blake Fry-Schnormeier. Together, they have facilitated workshops, such as Raku pottery sessions at Creston Arts, fostering hands-on artistic experiences for residents. In her role at Creston High School, Bailey emphasizes student autonomy and creative exploration. She offers an Independent Art Study course for seniors, allowing them to design their own curriculum and develop a cohesive body of work. This approach not only prepares students for higher education and scholarship opportunities but also instills a sense of ownership and pride in their artistic journey.

Bailey also plays a pivotal role in organizing events like the Hawkeye 10 Art Show, which showcases student artwork from multiple schools and provides workshops led by professional artists.
